Rome June 6th 2013 (IPS): Jomo Kwame Sundaram, assistant director-general for economic and social development at the United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO), writes that while the Millennium Development Goal of halving hunger by 2015 is within reach, much more needs to be done to eradicate malnutrition, which is the underlying cause of 2.6 million child deaths each year and the reason why a quarter of the world’s children, including a third of children in developing countries, are stunted.
