Nigerian Conservation Foundation developing carbon studies
As part of global mitigation strategies to reduce the impact of climate change, the Nigerian Conservation Foundation (NCF) is current developing carbon studies (trade, sequestration) in Nigeria. The pilot study is located in one of NCF’s project sites, Lekki Conservation Centre, Lagos State.
The goal of the study is to develop science based carbon sequestration/trade research that will culminate in modelling viability/valuation of tropical mangrove forest as a carbon sink; developing adaptive methodologies for carbon studies in West Africa; and creating a database that will serve as resource for policy advocacy and climate change research in Sub-Sahara Africa.
NCF therefore seeks partnership with research institutions with cognate experience in carbon studies. There will also be room for postgraduate research on climate change. Interested institutions should please contact Alade Adeleke, Technical Programmes Director, Nigerian Conservation Foundation, Km 19 Lagos-Epe Expressway, Lekki, P. O. Box 74638 Victoria Island, Lagos, Nigeria (ncf@hyperia.com, +234-1-2642498, 8023717). For more information on NCF, please visit www.ncfnigeria.org
